We Were Strangers on a CRAZY ADVENTURE!
Perhaps my new blogging goal shall be to quote Donna Lewis and/or Bryan Adams in every post title. And/or use all caps.
As horrible as the “we were strangers on a crazy adventure” song is, I still like it. Kinda like how I always tap my foot a little when I hear “Quit Playin’ Games with My Heart” at the grocery store. Or, how I still own (and rock out to) a CD titled “Oops…I Did It Again.” I think it’s the synthesized clap noise. I love that.
And, I thought it would be fitting, because I have made so many funny friends by blogging, and also gotten much closer to people I already knew. And if blogging isn’t a crazy adventure, then I don’t know what is….
Today marks 4 years of blogging for me. Hannah’s bloggerversary was yesterday and she wrote a v. hilar. post to celebrate.
Me? I have written too much senseless twaddle in the past 4 years to wade through it all and find something presentable. But maybe you’d be interested in reading my very first post. Or perhaps not, since apparently I had never heard of paragraphs. But maybe I’ll excerpt for you. January 17, 2002:
I've been laughing to myself for the past few minutes because there's a guy sitting in the lobby who I think is praying. Either that or sleeping. Not that there's anything wrong with praying OR sleeping, but he's been sitting there for awhile. He's waiting for a professor, who I think is not going to come. Anyway. He's probably sleeping, but it looks like he's praying, and I thought to myself, "What if he's praying that the professor will come?"
Looks like I haven’t changed much in 4 years. Anyway, thanks for reading.
Watch, the “crazy adventure” song is going to be in your head all day now. Enjoy!

ReplyDeleteI think there are better reasons for indentation - not the least of which is focusing on one thought at a time.
But I think it's pretty hilarious that your dad and I love the blogs - and we were convinced that you guys were indulging in the biggest time-waster ever when you were doing it then.
So we are never too old to learn something new!!

ReplyDeleteKARL!
Yes - KARL!
ReplyDeleteAnd I'm glad you guys started blogging too - or I wouldn't be able to indulge in the world's biggest time waster either.
ALthough I think timing is everything.
It wasn't until we got wireless that I started to really use the internet.
I will stop now, and keep this short, so Karl can read it.
Four years! Yow! Congratulations on coming from such a hip and trendsetting family.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you and I share the same love for the much underrated animated film "Anastasia."
ReplyDeleteNicole, I do truly love "Anastasia." Meg Ryan, John Cusack, Christopher Lloyd, Kelsey Grammer, Bernadette Peters, Donna Lewis...what more could a girl want?
ReplyDeleteActually I really like the soundtrack. Including the "pop star" versions--Aaliyah, Deana Carter...were you in bell choir when Mike M. took us all to see "Anastasia" so we could be inspired by the choral music? Funny.
I WAS. And we had to sit in the front, some on the floor becus it was so crowded and fantastic. And Mike M bought us all popcorn and goodies too.
ReplyDeleteI remember being bored and figuring out the NBC "ding DING ding" with James F. Good times.
