"A fun and glorious week"

I'm a Mia Maid adviser in my ward (brief explanation for those "in the dark": they have cute little names for teenage girls [Young Women] in the LDS Church. Beehives = 12-13-year-olds, Mia Maids = 14-15-year-olds, Laurels = 16-18-year-olds. Adviser = adult who tries to teach them things, tries to be their friend, tries to make sure they don't get into trouble, tries to be a good example, and tries not to be too uncool).

Anyway, so all the girls meet together for a few minutes at church on Sunday, and there's this one girl who when she says the prayer keeps her eyes open. Obviously the fact that I know this means that I keep my eyes open too... but anyway, this Sunday when she offered the closing prayer with her eyes open, she proclaimed in conclusion that we would like to have "a fun and glorious week." So, I've been trying to concentrate on having a fun and glorious week. Here's my progress towards fun and glory thus far.

-Took a 3 1/2 hour nap yesterday.

-Made it to work on time this morning.

-Worked 2 hours comp time, so that I might inch closer to my goal of taking off work to go to Seattle for school in January without having to take leave without pay (I'll be using all my vacation time at Christmas. Boo).

-Took advantage of staying at work late alone, and zoned out to OK Computer while performing very complicated data entry.

-Bought a new flatiron at Target tonight, in a feeble attempt to convince myself that now that I have cool bangs, I might be able to force my hair into looking cute.

-Learned how to make a tasty ham-cheese-tomato-and-broccoli omelette.

-Ah yes, and yet another nephew was born today. No name yet. This one belongs to my sister Phoebe. 3 new babies in less than 3 months!

-Perhaps influenced by the influx of babies into my family, I started today off by putting an old favorite into the CD player, Raffi in Concert with the Rise and Shine Band.

"Old" meaning I listened to this stuff when I was 4. But I haven't stopped loving it! Matt rolled his eyes, while I basked in fun and glory. Nothing quite like starting the day off with "Tingalayo" and/or "Knees Up Mother Brown."

-I registered to vote in Salt Lake County today. Barely slid in under the deadline.

-It snowed this morning. Fun? Yes. Glorious? I should say so.

And it's only MONDAY! So, we're off to a good start.
