Matchy matchy blue squared

A week ago I broke my toe by running into a door at rather high velocity. It was embarrassing and stupid and very painful and completely avoidable. I probably shouldn't run indoors. (or, into doors.) I have been a real baby about it. My doctor told me exactly the same thing that WebMD did, which was to tape the toe to its neighbor, ice it frequently, take lots of ibuprofen, don't exercise for a month and never go barefoot, and wear hard-soled shoes like running shoes that will keep strain off my toes. By the second day, vanity, pain, and 75-degree weather were inhibiting me from wearing running shoes all day so I called and asked about other hard-soled options. She told me my choices were to spend $$ on a walking boot or to treat myself to a sturdy pair of sandals.

I already kinda wanted some of these, so when I ordered the kids' summer sandals, I got a pair for myself as well. In fact, I took it a step further and bought all 3 pairs in navy blue. Matt rolled his eyes when I showed him the pretty maids all in a row after they arrived in the mail. Is that way too embarrassing for my kids and I all to be wearing matching shoes? I think it's kind of funny, and also awesome.

  1. I think it's awesome!! I love those sandals - and didn't know you could get them in grown up sizes!!

  2. I LOVE salt water sandals. Sadie is growing out of her white pair which means it's time to shop!! Jack has the dark brown and I think I might copy him.

  3. They have them in silver and gold now, in kids' and women's. Digging that. I would have gone for it if Theo were a girl...I was kind of hung up on the matching idea and gold is a bit flamboyant for a boy! The next time I can justify buying a pair I will definitely go metallic (unless by then metallic is "so 2008/9/10").

  4. I have 2 pairs of my own (although I have to admit that neither have been worn in more than 5 years). Where do you order the kids' from? Do you have a great store that sells them at great prices?? Please say yes and then forward me the name.

  5. my feet are so big that i'm sure they'd look ridiculous on me, but i fully support the adult-sized for everyone else.

  6. Sadly I haven't found any breathtaking prices on these, but I think they're worth a little more since they are so durable and because I love them. The last 2 years they have been Theo's only shoes for church and play, from April to October.

I have bought them from Zappos.com and from mysaltwatersandals.com. Zappos has less selection but I love their free shipping and easy returns. Plus every time I order something from Zappos I swear it shows up on my doorstep like 2 hours later.

Also Nordstrom carries them but their selection is even more limited.

  7. Congrats on the condo!! That's exciting news.
I understand how you feel about leaving the old place though.

We made your roasted veggies last night. so good that I think I'm going to go for a repeat performance tonight except quadruple the recipe. YUM!

  8. These are truly wonderful! Me, I've long thought that I would look better in children's things than those made for adults, shoes included--where did you find these great sandals?

(By the way, I broke my foot some weeks ago and would gladly choose to wear such cute shoes instead of this walking cast that I have...)

  9. Ashley: mysaltwatersandals.com has women's sizes. At $35 how could you not buy a pair??

    Enjoy!
