"Applause, applause."

Since I have absolutely NOTHING else to do (heh heh) I'm looking for the Ann that matches this beloved Raggedy Andy, manufactured by Applause, which Theo sleeps with every night.

I bought Andy a couple of years ago at a local store that is no longer in business. All I know is the tag says Applause. I haven't found the same Andy online (with the same face, same straight tie, not a bow) or the Ann that matches him.

"Anyone have any bright, ideas?"

Bonus points for the title reference and the bright ideas reference.

Gold star for locating said dolls so that Ida's Ann can match Theo's Andy and my world will be in order.

  2. Applause bought by Russ Berrie and Company, Inc (RUSS) in October, 2004, but they still carry "Applause" as one of their brands. They have a bunch of Ann and Andy's there (applause.com, click on "The Russ Companies" and their brands. They also list retailers, but these new ones might not match T's Andy.

  6. Ooh, thanks for the links.

I have actually looked online a lot. I have never seen one like Theo's Andy. Finally this morning I thought to look inside Andy's clothes and see if there was a tag. Voila! I am sooooo smart. In the second link you provided, Alex, there actually are a couple of Andys with the same tie, but they are all puppets. Funny.

I think I will just have to choose any Applause Ann. Having narrowed it down to the brand name makes it a lot easier. When I've looked online before, most of the Anns I saw had faces that didn't match Theo's Andy, if that makes any sense. That was what I really wanted, an Ann with the same style of face as Theo's Andy's. I don't really care about the clothes.

Anyway...I had hoped to find a set that showed the straight-tie Andy with his Ann. But these all look similar enough to Theo's Andy that any of them would be fine. Next I need to measure Theo's Andy to get the right size and I think I will be on my way to getting Ida her own Ann. It's funny how much she likes dolls already. Rag dolls, baby dolls. Girl thing I guess.

  7. BTW Theo's Andy has embroidered eyes, no buttons.

  8. BTW BTW I kind of sound a little bit obsessed. With the measuring and everything. I promise I'm not. "I just want it the way I want it." "I know. High maintenance."

  9. P.S. That's Theo when he was Ida's age. A little younger actually. Can I stand how adorable he was? No. (he's still cute but so feisty now.)

  12. I am no help with the raggedy ann thing, but I had to comment on your "what would you say?" post. Do you go back and read comments from previous posts after you've done a new one? Anyway, i wasn't sure, so I'm posting it here.

I totally am the same way. I can never think of something good to say to the middle aged, snobby women who cannot relate to young mothers. Like the women at the store the other day that I thought was holding the door open for me only to find out that when I got close to the door, she told me to put a blanket on my baby.
My sister on the other hand ALWAYS knows what to say, and usually says it. Check out this post on her blog...pretty funny. http://williamsnfm.blogspot.com/2009/03/where-to-start.html

  13. Meredith...I was dying reading the lyrics to your niece's song. So funny!

And, I'm pretty much convinced I'll never fly standby with kids if I can help it!
