jealousy overcomes me. You are so lucky. Kenzie won't nap anymore and I am not sure if my sanity is even in the sane category anymore. Next time its nap time, I'm going to show her this picture and say "see, Theo takes a nap!"
You could always introduce a pacifier! Wouldn't that be great, first pacifier at 2 years old!
I have vaguely talked about Theo's giving up the binky. But really only vaguely. Until he clearly won't nap anymore despite the pacifier--or it otherwise becomes ridiculous--I'm just not going to worry about it.
BTW Theo has gone through a few no-nap phases. Maybe it is a phase.
Children do go through phases when they appear to give up certain behaviors - and plugging away at it often finds them resuming the good behavior.
Insist on a quiet, alone episode each day - at two most children still need naps - and they just might resume them.
And at least you get a brief respite.
I had 6 kids - and everyone one of them tried to give up naps sooner than I wanted them to - and I kept them going until at least age 3 - and we were all happier for it!
I'm pretty sure that Theo refused to nap today just because I blogged about this last week. At least he quietly played with blocks in his bed for a while (unbeknownst to me) before deciding he wouldn't be napping today. Maybe he'll go to bed early...
Ida's a decent napper but she is much more sporadic than Theo. I think my own nap-taking phase is pretty much over for a while.
i have a testimony of pacifiers. i am a better mom because of them.
ReplyDeletelove the raggedy andy.
I think napping is in the genes - and you are lucky to have gotten those genes in your offspring!!
ReplyDeleteAll six of you were great nappers - and you did all have pacifiers!!

It looks like he took one look at his bed and fell over into it, asleep.
ReplyDeleteThat's so cute. Your kids are just so durn cute.

I wish my kids still took naps. My kids gave them up before 2. It would be so nice to have at least an hour to "recollect" yourself during a busy day.
ReplyDeleteP.S. I can't believe how big Theo is getting.
A boy after my own heart. Is his bed where his crib used to be? I didn't even know he was in a bed now.
ReplyDeleteI'm still in a nap taking phase, probably because Robbie hasn't taken my binkie away.
