Don't Hang On...Nothing Lasts Forever...All We Are Is Dust in the Wind.
I LOVE Easy Mac.
It fills my heart with gladness.
I could eat this stuff day in and day out and NEVER get tired of it.
In fact, I do. I've had it for lunch for the past 5 days. It's just so...easy.
Rather I should say that it's just so...quik, because I actually prefer Western Family brand Quik Mac over Kraft's Easy Mac. It tastes so much better. (Although Western Family brand mac & cheese in a box does not taste better than Kraft. Mystery.)
The one drawback to Quik Mac, I've found, is its faulty packaging, or perhaps it was a fluke today that as I attempted to separate the macaroni pouch (Open This Pouch First) from the cheese pouch (Open This Pouch Second), I suppose I separated a little too eagerly because instead of separating into neat little halves, the pre-perforated perforations led me to tear into the cheese pouch and disaster ensued.
The man using the microwave ahead of me watched as orange dust settled onto--into?--a nearby keyboard. "Well, it'll be a little less cheesy today," he remarked as he removed his all-natural and wholesome, FDA-approved homemade chicken soup from the microwave. From anyone else, including myself, I'd sense some irony in that statement, but this guy's nice.
So, I shook off the dusty keyboard into the trash can and salvaged what hadn't touched the desk or the keyboard. The Quik Mac tasted fine and was just as orange as ever. The keyboard seems to work fine still--so does the computer (which is still on OS 8.1 and hasn't been a very Quik Mac itself for about 5 years now anyway...)(oh I'm so sorry, but I couldn't resist)
A little orange-colored dust never hurt anything. Right? Am I right? It hasn't hurt me yet. Even after 5 days straight.

Hmm... is it cheap? Should I start bringing it to work?
ReplyDeleteWell, it depends on what you mean by "cheap." Sure, it's inexpensive, but it's also not very good for you. So the cost might be higher in the end.
ReplyDeleteThat said, it's just so tasty...
I think Western Family brand is usually on sale. A couple of dollars per box, and a box has like 7 or 8 packets.
Don't fall into the Kraft trap. Western Family is so much better.
The Henner loves Easy Mac, but I usually buy it at Costco. When I was pregnant with Calvin we ate it everyday for lunch. (And my doctor wondered how I gained 45 pounds?)
ReplyDeleteAnyway, I just bought the Albertsons brand last week. We'll have to check out the generic and see how it compares.
i think it's tasty too - but it doesn't fill me up - 20 seconds later and i'm STARVING again. - that's why it's pb&j for me
ReplyDeleteThe big box of Easy Mac packs is on sale at Target - fyi!!
ReplyDeletei love mac and cheese... freshman year i was so lazy, that when i wanted to eat it, and didn't have any milk or butter, i just made it with water. Now even when i have milk and butter, i don't use it. i am hooked on just water and noodles and cheese.
